Spotify Announces HiFi Streaming for Premium Users

Spotify has announced that they will be launching “Spotify HiFi”, a lossless audio streaming experience for premium subscribers.

For years, Spotify has stayed away from HiFi streaming, claiming that users are more than happy with the current quality of sound on Spotify. Spotify has since changed their course of thinking and are joining the ‘lossless audio’ competition with services such as Tidal, Amazon Music, and Qobuz.

Spotify has claimed that one of the most requested features from both artists and listeners is higher quality audio. Spotify HiFi will offer CD-quality, lossless audio to your device. This feature will give Spotify an edge on their competition with Apple Music, which as of now does not offer hifi audio on their digital streaming platform.

No details have been disclosed yet if this add-on will increase Spotify subscription prices.
