Scooter Braun has sold Taylor Swift’s catalog to LA-based firm Shamrock Capital just 16 months after he acquired it. Insiders are saying that the catalog, which was bought by Ithaca Holdings for around $300 million , could have been sold at a value near $450 million in this latest deal.

The acquisition of Big Machine Label Group by Ithaca Holdings 16 months ago caused a public outrage from Taylor Swift, and she is once again expressing disdain for being “in the dark” with the movement of her catalog. Due to the deal that was made between Ithaca Holdings and Shamrock Capital, Scooter Braun is set to still make profits from her catalog after it is sold.

In a recent tweet, Taylor Swift stated “As soon as we started communications with Shamrock, I learned that under their terms Scooter Braun will continue to profit off of my old music catalog for many years. I was hopeful and open to a partnership with Shamrock, but Scooter’s participation is a non-starter for me.”

There is obviously still a bad relationship existing between Scooter Braun and Taylor Swift, and she is in the works of re-recording all of her old masters to try to decrease the value of the work she claims was taken from her.

“I have recently begun rerecording my older music and it has already proven to be both exciting and creatively fulfilling” Swift stated.
