Reddit Acquires Dubsmash
Reddit and Dubshare have recently announced their partnership in the form of a high profile buyout.
“Starting immediately,” Dubsmash’s team and the co-founders (Suchit Dash, Jonas Drüppel and Tim Specht) will start working with Reddit’s employees. Reddit currently employs roughly 400 individuals.
Dubsmash is a video sharing and social media application based out of New York. It is one of many competitors of ByteDance-owned TikTok.
Reddit’s goal is to integrate the video-creation tools that Dubsmash offers, which generates around one billion video views per month. It is part of a greater goal for allowing users “to express themselves in original and authentic ways".
Dubsmash Head Suchit Dash said in a statement: “We want to continue our journey to bring best in class video products to our users, and now Reddit users. We believe in the idea of connecting creators around interests and topics, something Reddit has pioneered, in our growing Dubsmash community.”
