Meddling for Music Publishing
Meddling is a data service created by Travis Rosenblatt, designed to help music companies discover emerging acts using data and statistics. Since its beginning in 2015, Meddling has been used by the likes of Republic Records, Kobalt, Atlantic Records, Columbia Records and more.
Rosenblatt has created a new branch of Meddling called “Meddling for Publishers”, and it is currently being tested by major music publishers in the business.
This creation will help music publishers find emerging acts with potential (or already existent) hits. Using data and statistics assembled by Rosenblatt and his team, music publishers will have an incredibly easier way of finding new talent.
“There are more than 20 unpublished songwriters in the [US] Top 100 right now,” claimed Rosenblatt in a statement. “Publishers have not yet had access to the same set of tools to discover songwriters that labels have been using for years to find new artists; they are still in the ‘apply a highlighter to the charts’ mode that labels were in 10 years ago.”
“There is a huge opportunity here for frontline publishing A&R. Publishers and labels alike can also now view trending published writers to set up co-writes, sessions, and camps.”
