Discover Mixcloud, where creators craft a deeper listening experience
Mixcloud is a British streaming service where you can listen to and distribute different playlists, podcasts, DJ mixes and radio shows.
Some facts about Mixcloud include:
- Mixcloud was founded in 2008 by Nikhil Shah & Nico Perez, who met at the University of Cambridge
- Mixcloud offers crowdsourcing for radio shows and podcasts
- Mixcloud has mobile apps available on both iOS and Android devices
- Mixcloud notable users include Wired, Harvard Business School, TED Talks, and Barack Obama
Mixcloud is an interesting streaming service as it doesn’t focus directly on single or album releases; Mixcloud lets users listen to full length DJ mixes and shows that their curators arrange.
In December 2018, Mixcloud added a new subscription plan called “fan-to-creator”. Through this subscription package, the user can support a favorite artist directly and help contribute to the licensing costs of the music played in their shows.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mixcloud has become a hub for many DJs and artists wanting to share live sets and mixes with a broader audience. As live performances are halted due to social distance regulations, Mixcloud gives artists and DJs an opportunity to share licensed mixes with their fans.
With Too Lost, artists can distribute their music to Mixcloud. If your music isn’t on Mixcloud yet, sign up here!
