Artist Spotlight: UnoTheActivist
UnoTheActivist is a hip/hop artist and songwriter originally from Atlanta, Georgia. The evolution of Uno’s unique sound created by combining melodic synths, pitch adjustments, and targeted 808 bass placement has influenced and paved the way for a lot of newer artists in the current music scene.
UnoTheActivist established himself as one of the early pioneers of underground music in late 2015. Songs such as “Dirty”, “Double Cup”, and “Parkin’ Lot Pimpin”, featuring frequent collaborator Thouxanbanfauni, quickly gained the attention of new listeners as this style was being created and popularized. As time progressed, Uno’s unique style continued to evolve.
Most recently, on December 10th, 2021, Uno released a joint album with MadeinTYO titled “Yokohama”. At the time of this article, the release has amassed a total of over 5.5 million streams on Spotify alone. One of the more popular tracks on the release “Ghostrider” featuring artist MDMA, has gained traction due to the unique visuals in the music video directed by videographer Lonewolf. The success of the joint release led UnoTheActvist and MadeinTYO going on the “Yokohama Tour” featuring shows in Boston, Los Angeles, and Atlanta.
