Artist Spotlight: Trick James
Trick James is a hip-hop musician from Iowa who has developed a unique sound that has been drawing in fans of all sub-genres of rap music at a rapid rate. His creative process as an artist started in high school and has grown into something special for all listeners to enjoy.
Trick James is more than just a rapper. His ability to pour raw emotion into his lyrics, paired with instrumentals that complement his sound, is a talent rarely found in artists today. He has touched on the emotional stressors of life. For him, this came in the form of trying to take his own life due to relationship problems with a significant other. Born from that tragic experience was his song “Suicide Letter”.
Trick James continues to make music that listeners were able to build a deep, emotional connection to. It was his song “Suicide Letter 2”, coming from his 2017 album “Nightmare Hills”, that showcased his talent to the next level. The song currently has over 16.2 million streams on Spotify alone.
Trick James has shown no signs of slowing down in regard to putting out music. In 2022, he released singles such as “BlooD’ and “Angels” featuring Dismas Xavier and Trey Day which added to his impressive discography.
