Artist Spotlight: late night drive home
late night drive home is an indie-rock band from El Paso Texas. Brian Dolan, Juan Vargas, Freddy Baca, and Andre Portillo come together to create their own take on the rock and roll genre.
The band started with Juan Vargas, who also goes by “Ockz”, and Andre Portillo making music for fun. Later on, the two paired up with Brian Dolan and Freddy Baca to create the band that you hear today. While the band started making what they call “lo-fi bedroom pop”, they now describe themselves as an Indie-Alternative rock band with a small emo element.
While they were releasing music as early as 2019, it was in 2021 when the band decided to take music more seriously. Their releases from 2019 are nothing short of great, but there is a noticeable transition between their sound back then compared to now.
In 2021, the band released their 5-track EP “Am I Sinking or Am I Swimming?”. The song “Stress Relief” on the EP became a stand-out track.
