Artist Spotlight: Ion Lil Gut
Ion Lil Gut is a rapper and songwriter from Miami, Florida. Over the years, Ion has shown audiences his versatility and evolution as an artist.
From making songs like “Big Bank” featuring Lil Pump to “Come Alive”, Ion proved to listeners he can utilize his sound in all different sub-genres of rap and hip/hop. Ion’s music career started in a time where South Florida was the new hot spot for up-and-coming musicians. Rappers like XXXTENTACION, Ski Mask The Slump God, Smokepurpp and many others were paving the way for rappers coming out of that area to be seen in the mainstream.
As the South Florida music scene grew, Ion continued to establish himself as an artist. He released songs like “Thot I Knew You” featuring Lofty305, “Big Hunnits” featuring Lil Slump, and “Wit Da Gang”, steadily growing his fan base outside of South Florida. In August of 2018, the official audio to Ion’s song “High School” was released on the Elevator YouTube channel. Listeners were immediately drawn to the song, leading to Ion’s career taking off.
Currently, High School has over 32 million streams on Spotify alone. After the release of “High School”, Ion came out with his first album “Up Nexxx Vol.1. Following the album, Ion continued to drop singles like “Hollywood Party”, “Mood Ring”, and “Hellcat” produced by Charlie Shuffler.
In May of 2022, Ion released his latest single “Cyclone”.
