Artist Spotlight: Freddie Gibbs
Freddie Gibbs is a hip-hop artist/rapper from Gary, Indiana, that has been putting out great music since he got his start in 2004. His talent as a musician has been proven time and time again with every release he puts out.
Freddie’s first project, “Full Metal Jacket”, gave listeners an introduction to his music and what he was capable of as an artist. As he continued to release music, he went on to sign with Young Jeezy’s record label CTE World. Later that same year, Freddie released his project “Cold Day In Hell” which quickly pushed Freddie to the forefront of rap, making him the topic of discussion all throughout the industry. With features from artists such as 2 Chianz, Juicy J, and Young Jeezy, the mixtape took off.
In 2012, Freddie released his mixtape “Baby Face Killa” featuring artists like YG, Pharell, and Jadakiss. The mixtape went on to become one of the most popular releases from Freddie and is looked at as a staple in his career.
In 2012, Freddie released his debut album ESGN, continuing his track to becoming a household name. 2014 was also a big year for Freddie. The release of his single “Old English” featuring Young Thug and A$AP Ferg became a hit. The song has sold over 500,000 units, making it a certified Gold record by the RIAA.
Freddie has not slowed down when it comes to releasing music. In 2018 he released his collab album with Curren$y and The Alchemist, which was a huge success. Songs like “New Thangs”, “Location Remote”, and “The Blow”, proved that Freddie deserved all the recognition he was getting.
Most recently, Freddie released his 15-track album “$oul $old $eparately” featuring artists like Rick Ross, Offset, and Moneybagg Yo. He even released a bonus edition of the album, adding 5 additional tracks.
