Artist Spotlight: Allan Kingdom
Allan Kingdom is a record producer and rapper, originally from Canada, but spent his time growing up in St. Paul, Minnesota. Before working alongside artists such as Kanye West, Sia, and Paul McCartney, his talent has been apparent since he first got his start in music.
Since the release of his first mixtape “Trucker Music” in 2011, Allan Kingdom showcased his talent early on in his career. He followed up “Trucker Music” with his EP “Pinkspire Lane”, continuing on his path of becoming an artist to look out for. The Current described his sound as “Having a hazy, floating feel, with spacious soundscapes punctuated by ambient percussion; his style evokes a sense of vulnerability that sometimes underscores, sometimes contrasts with his lyrics”.
In 2014 he was named “Best Hip-Hop Artist of 2014” and he was also listed on Complex’s “25 New Rappers To Watch Out For In 2014”. Taking inspiration from artists such as Kid Cudi, Pharrell, and Kanye West, he has created a sound all his own.
In 2015, Allan collaborated with Kanye West on the song “All Day”, giving him more reach and a chance to expand his audience. Aside from music, Allan has been focusing his time on philanthropy. He hosted an event called “The Big Give Back”, which aided families and students in need.
Most recently Allan released his single “Cloud 9”. The song definitely carries on with the sound he has honed in on and delivers to listeners exactly what they have come to love about his music.
